The vehicle skidded down the embankment and smashed into another vehicle on the road below.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon as the Asian motorist drove three friends up the Ras Al Khaimah mountain.
RAK Police said the 33-year-old was in the car with three others, all aged around 25 to 26.
“The car then skidded down the side of the cliff and fell onto another car that was on the road below,” said Lt Colonel Talal Saleh Al-Shaal, Director of Traffic at Al Rams Police Station in RAK.
“The driver was killed on the spot after his car smashed into the second car. Three of his friends sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor.”
Four other people who were in the second car also sustained injuries. All seven were taken to hospital where they are being treated.
Police have urged motorists be careful while driving through mountain roads and to avoid speeding.
Last month, an eight-year-old boy died after being thrown from a car in a crash in a mountainous area of RAK.
Police said the Indian child’s father lost control and swerved off the road, with the boy being thrown through the windscreen due to the impact.
